Why & How To Use Affirmations To Change Your Life
Do you struggle with limiting beliefs, self-doubts, health-issues or any situation that doesn’t make you feel good? Ok: I don’t have THE PERFECT SOLUTION for all the problems in your life, but I want to share a technique with you, that has literally helped me to change my whole life:
I am talking about AFFIRMATIONS.
Too esoteric & cliché? Nahh! Maybe your immediately thinking about sentences like „I am beautiful. I am light & love. I am a goddess“ And even though all these things are true and can actually help you to feel better, affirmations don’t have to sound like that!
What is an affirmation?
Any positive phrase, that makes you feel good can be called an affirmation. It’s about thinking & talking positively to yourself, to change your subconscious beliefs from negative ones into positive ones.
Is this esoteric bullshit or do affirmations really have an impact on your well-being and can they even change your life ?
Actually (well it’s really obvious) it’s proven scientifically, that talking positively to yourself can have a great impact on your way of behaving & living life. Why?
Usually we have around 60k thoughts a day and now some really juicy facts: Only around 5% of them are new thoughts, all the other 95% (or even more) are repetitive thoughts – And unfortunately studies have shown that almost 80-90% of these thoughts are negative thoughts: So most of the time we think negatively, without even recognizing it, that’s crazy, isn’t it?!
How affirmations aka positive thinking works
Ok so being aware of our unconscious & negative way of thinking, you can imagine, that all these negative thoughts have an immense impact on your life: What you think becomes your reality, why? You think something, you feel a certain way & then you react in a certain way – aka controlled by emotions caused from negative thoughts, that doesn’t sound that good, right?
Yeah, you can just start talking positively to yourself, but I think it also really helps to use this as a possibility to get to know you better, learn more about yourself, your limiting beliefs & how your way of thinking & feeling can change your whole life.
1. Be aware of your emotions
Maybe you should just start analyzing every thought you have just to be sure that you are only thinking positively? Sounds great, but it’s really unrealistic and actually not necessary!
Trying to be aware of every thought you have during the day is, let’s call it impossible, but you can definitely learn to listen more to your body & how you are feeling: On an emotional & physical level. Why? Emotions are the result of thoughts, so always have in mind:
Negative thoughts create negative emotions.
Positive thoughts create positive emotions.
Imagine the cutest tiny puppy you have ever seen playing around on a sunny day. How do you feel? Do you feel sad? Nah,I don’t think so – It makes you smile and feel happy, because it’s cute!
You’re thoughts create emotions and these emotions impact your behaviour, your decision-making etc.
What affirmations can I use?
First think about why you want to use affirmations:
Do you want heal yourself? Do you have self-doubts & want to become more confident? Whatever it is, write it down and now here’s my recommendation for you:
- Write down your limiting believes on that topic! How do you currently think about your health, money, relationships etc? When someone talks about love, what is the first thing you think about? Maybe it’s something like…: „I don’t deserve to be loved.“ „Nobody will ever like me.“ „I will always be single.“…
- After writing down all your limiting beliefs, I want you to write down the exact opposite phrase to your limiting belief aka..: Instead of „I don’t deserve to be loved“ write down „I am worthy of being loved“. „I am feeling accepted & loved by others.“ and the list goes on.
- Google & search for already written affirmations or create your own affirmations according to your own values, lifestyle and also style of talking: If you aren’t really into spirituality it may not be that effective for you to write down something like: „I am love & light and I feel connected to God“ or something like that, right?
Using the words I AM can be extremely helpful, as it helps you subconscious mind to actually get that you are talking to it, to yourself. And PLEASE: Your subconscious mind doesn’t know the word NO or NOT. So don’t say „I am not sick anymore“, but rather: „I am healthy“ Create a positive statement!:)
Maybe you will even change your way of thinking about these affirmations, ok: you are definitely going to change your way of thinking about affirmations and whether they really work, because they do!
Using affirmations, is not just a trend, it’s an amazing tool to reprogram your subconscious mind, change negative and limiting beliefs into positive ones, so that you can eventually show your true-self, enjoy & live your life to the fullest.

- I am authentic & honest.
- I am listening intuitively to my body.
- I am always meeting people I can truly connect with.
- I am surrounded by people who accecept & respect me.
- I am exactly where I am meant to be.
- I am living a balanced life.
